1 simple exercise to defeat writer’s block forever.
Writer’s block happens to everyone, but it doesn’t have to stop you from writing.
My favourite Writer Nicolas Cole, 5x Author and 100M views Writer has a simple trick to help you get past it:
The 10-minute freewriting exercise.
All you need is a timer and the courage to write without worrying about making it perfect.
Set the timer for 10 minutes and just write, even if it feels like it’s not good enough.
The goal is to keep writing, no matter what.
When the timer starts, let your thoughts flow and write whatever comes to your mind.
Don’t worry if it has anything to do with your main piece or not.
Just keep your hand moving and don’t stop to edit or fix anything.
This helps you stop overthinking and lets ideas come naturally without the pressure of making them sound perfect.
After the 10 minutes are up, look at what you wrote.
You might find something useful or a new idea that you can build on.
Nicolas Cole’s exercise works because it helps you let go of the fear of messing up, and once you get past that, the words will start flowing much more easily.
